Ellis audio was started in 1982 in small garage in laurel Montana by Shawn Ellestad. Shawn started this company as a hobby doing weddings, parties and other events as a DJ as well as car audio. Eventually Shawn started working on cars and trucks installing radios and speakers. While pursuing his passion for the audio industry Shawn was competing in SPL and sound quality competitions throughout Montana and the surrounding states. While participating in the competitions, he began a friendly rivalry with Jerimiah Mangus. Jerimiah shares an equal passion for the audio industry and in 1994 Jerimiah started working with Shawn, Jerimiah is still with us to this day! Ellis audio started offering more services including car tv installations, motorcycle stereo installations, side by side installations and led light installations. As vehicles and motorcycles started to change so did the subwoofer boxes needed. Shawn started building his own custom boxes including a subwoofer box that replaces your center consol, subwoofer boxes that are mounted behind the seat and hidden, and subwoofer boxes that fit effortlessly under the back seat. Now as we end the year of 2024 Ellis audio is now in a brand-new building built by Shawn himself and his son in law Jerimiah Smith. Starting in 2025 Shawn will be passing the company over to his youngest daughter Morgan Bernell with high hopes to grow in the coming years and to continue helping the community!
